Relentless Energy Drink proudly sponsors….

Punk misfits Gallows burst onto the scene in 2007 amid a flurry of noise, screaming and fully justified hype. Their arrival came at a time when guitar music was somewhat in the doldrums, and their energetic, honest, politically charged music was a breath of fresh air after the glut of posey indie bands of recent times. From recording their debut album in the uninviting confines of Slough to touring the world and slaying audiences wherever they go, their modus operandi has always been packed with aggression, passion and skill.

Gallows are an ambitious band who refuse to conform to genre expectations or the whims of others. Whether it’s welding their fierce sounds to musicians from The Heritage Orchestra or dropping their huge contract with a major label after just one album, they are their own men and are dedicated to presenting their craft as they see it.

Starting out

We started out around 2005 as we were disgusted with the stale and stagnant music coming out of the U.K hardcore scene. As a band, we decided to make the music we wanted to hear and made a recording of it. It kind of snowballed from there and we ended up being liked by the people we wanted to shout ‘Fuck you’ to as well.

The road to success

Hard, fast and loud and not caring about success. Funny how that happens.

Career highlight to date

Being asked to go on tour with ‘Rage Against the Machine’ and spending a couple of months in RAK studio, London making our second record (Grey Britain) which even if I hadn’t played on it would be one of my favourite records of all time to listen to.

Quote that inspires me

Motto I live by

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. So, do it.

If I wasn't...

I’ve always thought Tom Penny the skateboarder was fucking cool, back in the day. He totally shredded everyone on a skateboard, got some fame and attention and then just fucked it all off and went away for a bit before everyone drained the fun out of skateboarding for him. That takes guts and a real understanding of why you do what you do.

I admire the fact he was really good at what he did and didn’t need anyone else to tell him he was. He would rather just disappear than have the media turn him into ‘Flavour of the Month’. Pretty cool.
