Germany’s premier wakeboard and skate event on 18 June at Cologne’s Stadionbad was another roaring success, with the contest blessed with blue skies and sunshine after an initial spell of showers caused some concern. Some of the world’s best cable riders competed throughout the day at the 1,000ft-long pool complex, with some truly stunning runs and tricks witnessed by the burgeoning crowds at this free-to-enter tournament.

Immensely talented 13-year-old Thai rider Daniel Grant emerged as the winner of the wakeskate tournament, beating off competition from much older and more experienced names with some explosive runs, while Germany’s Nico von Lerchenfeld won the wakeboard contest with two near-perfect runs. With a brand new stair set from Relentless Energy Drink among the obstacles, the course looked amazing in the summer sun, and Wake The Line solidified its reputation in the world of wake with another excellent day of entertainment.
