For two weeks in July, legendary Kerrang! and K! photographer Paul Harries is teaming up with Kerrang! and Relentless Energy Drink to host a very special photography exhibition of one of the biggest metal bands of all time: Slipknot.
An exclusive look behind an enigmatic band
Harries is a freelance photographer who’s been documenting the band for over a decade, and has had exclusive access to their shows and behind-the-scenes antics. Running at London’s Strand Gallery from 12-24 July 2011, his exhibition is set to be a landmark show in the field of iconic music photography and forms part of Kerrang!’s landmark thirtieth anniversary celebrations.
Over 60 images – including previously unseen photos – will be on display, demonstrating the breadth of Harries’ work with the band over the years. Best of all, the gallery is free to get in.
"Paul Harries has always been able to capture the band in its true form"
"Slipknot is not always the easiest band to capture,” says percussionist Shawn Crahan, aka Clown. “And not very easy to work with. Paul Harries has always been able to capture the band in its true form, and has put up with all our bullshit that surrounds us night and day. Look at the ‘Knot’ as seen through the eyes of a true photographer, artist and friend."
Personal insights
The photographer will be attending the exhibition on Saturday 16 July from 3-7pm, giving his personal insights into the various shots on display, and discussing his thoughts on the craft in general. Whether you’re a die-hard Slipknot fan, or simply a lover of compelling photography, a visit to this exhibition is essential.
