A fifth major trophy for the young rider representing Relentless Energy Drink

Congratulations are in order for 20-year-old Relentless-sponsored rider Jack Challoner, who has added another trophy to his burgeoning cabinet by winning the 2011 European Motorcycle Championship in the Czech Republic. The Halifax-based talent continues to go from strength to strength with his emphatic and testing triumph on 1 September.

Overcoming obstacles

"There’s no playing safe if you want to win at this level"

Jack’s victory has been no easy ride, with the young talent experiencing the extreme highs and lows of competitive racing during the series. After dominating the opening three rounds, he suffered major crashes in both the Andorran and Italian legs, requiring some serious grit, determination and bravery to get back into the top spot. In true No Half Measures style, he did just that, keeping a cool head to put in an immensely impressive performance in the Czech mountains near Tanvald and beat off all competition.

Again, this final round served up its own set of challenges, none of which managed to faze the former Junior World Champion (2010, in case you were wondering). “The trial here wasn’t easy,” he reveals. “Overnight rain made the sections tough and the pressure was definitely on to pull it out of the bag – it was all at stake. I gave it everything I had, which meant pushing all the boundaries and going for gold – there’s no playing safe if you want to win at this level, so for me and the team we went all out.”

Blistering form

This latest win for Challoner comes after several years of consistent victories, with three other international titles and the aforementioned Junior title already in the bag. This year has also seen him finish sixth in the World X-Trial Indoor Championships – the highest-placing British rider – while he has just placed within the top 10 in the final standings of the

2011 World Outdoor Championships. Never one to hog the glory though, he’s full of praise for his team mates and the Relentless Energy Drink backing that he warmly receives: “Riding for Relentless Energy Drink is one of the best things. We don’t have to worry about what people think, we’re here to ride, that’s why I love riding with Relentless – I’m representing a brand that I’m very much into.”

Charles Marsden, Motorsport Manger for Relentless Energy, returned the praise, underlining what an excellent 2011 he’s had so far. “Jack has surprised us all this year,” he says. “As well as creating a really great video in the Nike 6.0 tunnel, his results have blown the competition out of the water, he’s completely dedicated in everything he does and it really shows. We have no doubt that he’ll go a lot further.”

Now it’s back to the UK for Jack to start his winter training – with a little stop-off at Relentless Energy Drink Freeze Festival in London in October for the well-deserved letting off of some steam.
