Guitars and electronics go head to head for another blistering line-up at this year’s festival
It’s time to unveil the line-up for the Energy Sessions stage at Boardmasters 2012, sponsored by Relentless Energy Drink. Expect everything from tear-out electro to rowdy hardcore, with the usual mix of established names and up-and-coming acts. Over two days, headlining bands will feature alongside the cream of DJ-ing talent in a structure that’s new for the 2012 season.
The Japanese Popstars top Friday’s line-up
Confusingly named Irish electro sensations The Japanese Popstars have won plaudits far and wide for their raucous live shows, making fans of Erol Alkan, Zane Lowe and many more along the way. The Derry trio will show why they’re such a hot property on Friday night, with support from DJs Punks Jump Up plus Crooked Cats, Mongolian Disco Show, Swiss Lips, Random Impulse and another stellar set from Plastic Thumbs.
The Young Guns go in hard on Saturday
Buckinghamshire boys, Young Guns, are the helm on Saturday night with their anthemic blend of post-hardcore and stadium rock. Imagine Lostprophets meets Bon Jovi and you’re some of the way there. They’ll be supported by Radio 1 tips Bwani Junction, The Solo Collective, Crooked Cats, Proxies and the ever-ready Plastic Thumbs.
