Lee talks indoor wakeboarding in the capital
The arrival of the annual London International Boat Show got us all excited for some indoor shredding. Here’s a little update and some photos from the show, and what myself and some of the Relentless Energy Drink-sponsored wakeboard team got up to.
Taking things inside
During the winter month of January, riding in England tends to go out of the window for most people. Luckily, Industry Wake Parks, along with the show organisers, get together to put on an awesome set-up at the ExCeL London, which consists of a 2.0 cable system, a kicker and a sweet rooftop.
The great thing about this was that myself and four other riders were invited along for 12 days of riding the set-up, and performing demos for the general public at the show.
All for one, and one for all
Between the five of us – CK Koester, James Young, Jonty Green, Dan Nott and myself – we were there not only to freeride but to put on three separate 20-minute demos each day. In these showcases we demonstrated a variety of different wakeboarding tricks, from the basics and rail slides, to more advanced and technical tricks on the kicker. We also got busy on the rooftop rail and pulled off some big air tricks, such as double S-bends.
One of our other duties was to give some public talks after our demos, which were held at the poolside theatre. We talked about life as pro wakeboarders, and provided some useful information on the equipment we ride.
We all had an awesome week in London, and are now looking forward to next season already.
