Three-date UK surf tour comes with £15,000 prize money

Relentless Energy Drink was born within the UK’s action-sports community, and has always supported the entire scene – from grassroots right up to the nation’s world-leading competitors and all in between. Now comes our latest venture to support the scenes and cultivate talent: the Super Series, in association with the UK Pro Surf Tour. Surfing kicks off this new run of action-sports tournaments within the UK, with a three-date tour set to shine the spotlight on the nation’s greatest waves and athletes.

The elite meet the newcomers

This elite surf tour invites 28 of the UK’s best surfers to compete across three dates in the UK’s best wave spots this Autumn, with the locations cherry-picked by the UK Pro Surf Tour and the top competitors. Relentless Energy Drink-sponsored rider Jayce Robinson will feature alongside numerous local talents, all competing for the huge cash prize of £15,000 (£5,000 per tour stop), with the overall champion winning themselves a place on three ASP events (including Relentless Energy Drink Boardmasters 2012).

"Surfers will be pushing their abilities to the limits"

Alongside the 28 pros will be four wildcard entrants in each heat – locals nominated by surf associations in each of the three areas – giving a chance for talented unknowns to shine and keeping the events fresh throughout.

Posterity and grassroots

The entire tour will be documented in true Relentless style by the incredibly talented Mickey Smith, director of the winning entry of the 2010 Relentless Energy Drink Short Stories film competition Dark Side Of The Lens – which captured the beauty and intensity of UK surfing at its most boisterous.

“The Relentless Super Series will be groundbreaking for British surfing, providing an opportunity for top competitors to challenge themselves, and each other, in some of the best surf in the UK,” thinks Dave Reed, Relentless Energy Drink Super Series tour director. “With the reward on offer, surfers will be pushing their abilities to the limits. It will be a milestone in their surfing careers and a catalyst to future success.”
