After the storming success of its January 2011 debut, Germany’s Relentless Energy Drink BIGAIR Stuttgart returns for its second edition in association with Quiksilver, bigger and better than before. Taking place on new dates from 16-17 December 2011, it’s now been upgraded from a 4 to 5-star TTR event, elevating it to the elite of snowboard competitions worldwide.

Germany’s biggest snowboarding contest

BIGAIR brings world-class snowboarding to the heart of Stuttgart, in the impressive Neckarpark situated between Cannstatter Wasen and the Mercedes-Benz Arena. 250 tons of metal will be used to construct the huge 130-metre long, 36-metre high snow-filled run – a seriously big piece of work. The contest – Germany’s biggest snowboard session – is held on a big-air jumpbox and a staircase obstacle with rails and slidebars, guaranteeing gripping action throughout.

A gateway to the World Snowboarding Championships

The prizes on offer are huge this year. Aside from the $50,000 purse, the world’s best riders will compete at BIGAIR for 850 TTR points and for a place at the 2012 World Championships in Oslo in February.

The competition will be stiff, with a hard-to-beat feat from inaugural winner Chas Guldemond – who landed a Double Cork 1080 stiffy back in January 2011, followed by a gap out to boardslide down the kinked rail. With such a high precedent set, you can be assured that BIGAIR will deliver some truly stunning efforts once again.
