The celebrated Bright tradeshow returns for its first instalment of 2012, edition XIV taking place at the former Stasi headquarters, Haus18, in Berlin from 19 to 21 January.
With three days of the world’s leading skate brands showing their latest wares and the best skateboarders around giving unmissable demos, an awards ceremony and the added bonus of a little mini golf, it’s another essential date in every skate fanatic’s calendar.
The inaugural Bright European Skate Awards
BESA (for short) will run in association with skate bastions Kingpin Magazine, Nike SB, Mpora.com and Relentless Energy Drink, with over 80 industry insiders voting on the winners’ names that are to be announced in the Bright Theatre on Friday 20 January. Legendary presenters, bands and DJs will ensure that the energy is kept high as more than 10 awards are announced, including Kingpin European Skateboarder of the Year, Skateshop of the Year, and Brand of the Year.
Skate and swing
The first-ever Bright Minigolf tournament will be held on Thursday 19 January, giving the skate fraternity the chance to show off some other skills and unwind. The nine-hole course inside the Bright venue will be something truly special, each hole designed by an internationally regarded artist: James Jarvis (UK), Superblast (Germany), Andy Jenkins (USA), Dennis Chow (Canada), Jaybo (Germany), Leif Podhajsky (Australia), Marok (Germany), Jethro Haynes (UK) and Shake Your Tree (Germany) all working their magic.
