Polish off your wheels and wax your boards for the best skate party of the year in Berlin
A Relentless Energy Drink sponsored event…
Relentless Energy Drink is at Berlin's CLASH 2011 again from 20 - 22 May, with the event taking place for the seventh year in a row at Skatehalle Berlin. You can bet we’re looking forward to Jürgen Horrwarth's slick traverse up Europe’s largest ramp, and catching some of the best skateboarding talent around. Plus after four years off, the Vert competition is back, while Lennie Burmeister is taking care of the Street course and the Bowl - both of which are getting a very special facelift.
A new format to guarantee more excitement
The three-day tournament is an invite-only affair with no qualifications at the event itself, and a total prize purse of 12500 Euros to be won. Some tweaks have been made to the format this year, including the introduction of 'First Try or Die' - where from the Semi-Finals onwards, skaters will have to land an intro trick straight-up for double points.
The Bowl contest, presented by Zimtstern, will see riders tackle single runs up until the 'Death and Glory' final, which will be held in an explosive jam format for a spectacular finale. Meanwhile the vert-comp will now be judged in three different categories: Best Run, Best Trick (around the extension corner) and the 'King of Doubles' score.
Wild cards
Although CLASH 2011 has no qualifications and instead invites 75 street starters, 20 Bowl riders and 10 Vert contestants, there is another way in for any talented skater hopefuls: wild cards. Skatehalle's Revaler Straβe venue is hosting several wild card sessions in the run-up to the event where the public can compete for a chance to join the invited elite.
Friday 6 May will see two wild cards given out for the Vert Comp during a vert session at Jürgen Horrwarth's colourway etnies shoes release event, while the 15 Street and 10 Bowl wild cards will be given out during the Terror Session at CLASH on Friday 20 May, the day before the main event kicks off.
But that's not all. Any skaters who miss out on wild cards but still want to compete and get some glory can enter the open-to-all 'Cash for Tricks' session on Sunday 22 May. Bonus!
CLASH 2011 takes place from 20 - 22 May at Skatehalle Berlin, Germany. 2-day tickets are just 12 Euros - to buy tickets and to find out more click here.
